What should I check first when a pet machine stops working?

Power, then residue, then the consumable — in this niche the overwhelming majority of failures are a flat battery, a blocked path or a spent filter, drum or blade.

A short list that resolves most problems before support is involved.

Power

Batteries in flaps and feeders, the plug and the socket on everything else. A flap reading intermittently is nearly always tired cells.

Residue

Sensor windows in a litter box, the impeller in a fountain, the hose in a grooming vacuum, the hopper outlet in a feeder. Every one of those causes a symptom that looks like a mechanical failure.

The consumable

A glazed grinder drum, a blunt blade, a clogged filter. All three present as “the machine has got worse”.

Then the app

Note the error code before contacting support. It is the difference between a five-minute conversation and a returns process.

This does not replace your device’s manual. Blade temperatures, locking mechanisms and cleaning procedures differ from model to model, and the manufacturer’s instructions take precedence over anything written here. Unplug a device before dismantling it, check a hot blade or an air nozzle against your own hand before it goes anywhere near an animal, and keep a mechanism that closes or rotates under supervision until you know how it behaves.
