Portions that do not depend on your evening · review
Anykuu 4 L timer feeder review
A 4-liter hopper with a semi-transparent body, portions of roughly 7 to 9 grams, a ten-second voice recording and a battery backup alongside the USB-C supply.
What we take from it The most informative cheap feeder here. A stated gram figure and a real battery backup are worth more than an app at this price.
What it is
A 4-liter hopper feeder with a semi-transparent body, one to six meals a day,
one to twenty portions per meal at roughly 7 to 9 grams each, a ten-second
voice recording, and USB-C power with three D cells as backup.
The gram figure
Anykuu is one of the few manufacturers in this class to publish what a portion
weighs. That single number turns the feeder from an approximation into an
instrument: a cat on 55 grams a day is six or seven portions, split however you
like, and you can set that on the first evening instead of adjusting for a
week.
Backup that works
Mains through USB-C, with D cells behind it. The distinction that matters —
and it is worth checking in the manual of any feeder — is whether the batteries
keep the machine feeding or merely keep the clock running. Fit them before a
trip, not after.
Seeing the level
A semi-transparent hopper sounds trivial until you are away and someone else
is checking on the house. “Is there food in it?” becomes a glance rather than a
disassembly.

The questions owners ask
Why does a stated portion weight matter?
Because "one portion" means nothing without it. If you know a portion is roughly 7 to 9 grams, you can set a daily ration from the number on the food bag instead of guessing and adjusting for a week. Most feeders in this price range leave you to work it out.
Is the voice recording useful or a gimmick?
It is a call to the bowl, and cats do learn it. Whether it earns its place is personal — what it definitely does is confirm to a nervous animal that the noise it just heard is dinner rather than the machine misbehaving.
Does it keep feeding on batteries?
Anykuu describes the three D cells as a backup when mains power fails. Fit them before you leave rather than after: the entire value of a backup is that it is already in place on the day the power goes.
