What we take from it The grinder to buy for dark nails. The lights do more for the result than the motor does.
What it is
A six-speed nail grinder running between 7,000 and 12,000 rpm, with two LEDs
in the head lighting the nail from the side. Casfuy sells it on being quiet and
low in vibration.
The problem with dark nails
On a pale claw the quick is visible as a pink core and you stop short of it.
On a dark claw there is nothing to see, which is why so many owners either cut
too far once and never again, or never start. Light through the nail makes the
boundary visible on many dark claws, and that is the single reason to choose
this grinder over a plain one.
Speeds, used the right way round
Six settings from 7,000 to 12,000 rpm. The instinct is to use the fastest; the
correct approach is the slowest that still removes nail, taking a little at a
time. Grinding generates heat inside the nail, and heat is what teaches an
animal to hate the tool.
Noise and vibration
Casfuy leads on both and publishes neither as a figure. What can be said is
that vibration is what most animals object to — a grinder that buzzes in the
paw is refused faster than one that is merely audible.

What we rate, and what we flag up
Strengths
Six speeds is real control — most grinders here have two
The LEDs light the nail itself, which is what lets you stop in time on a dark claw
Low vibration matters more than power on an animal that dislikes being held
Listed on all six of our markets
Compromises
12,000 rpm at the top end is faster than any home user needs
Casfuy publishes no decibel figure behind the "super quiet" claim
Grinding drums are consumables and need replacing as they glaze

The questions owners ask
How do the LEDs help?
On a pale nail you can see the quick as a pink shadow and stop before it. On a dark nail you cannot see anything at all, and that is where most over-cutting happens. Light through the nail makes the boundary visible on many dark claws — which is why this feature is worth more than an extra speed.
Which speed should I use?
The slowest that removes nail. A faster drum takes more per second and generates more heat, and heat in a nail is what makes an animal refuse the tool next time. Six speeds exist so you can find the slow one that still works.
What if I go too far?
A nail that bleeds needs pressure and a styptic product, and an animal that is in pain needs to stop for the day. If it happens more than once, or if a nail is overgrown enough that the quick has grown out with it, have a vet or groomer take the first cut and copy what they leave.
