The same rake mechanism as the rest of the ScoopFree range, built around clumping litter and an enclosed waste bin instead of crystals and a disposable tray. PetSafe states it works with clumping litter and most other types, which is the whole point of this version.
A rake box succeeds or fails on how firmly the clump sets. The rake has to lift the clump in one piece and drop it into the bin; a litter that hardens slowly gets dragged and smeared instead, and the machine is then blamed for what the litter did. If you have been using a cheap, soft-clumping bag, this is the box that will make you change it — not because the manual says so, but because the mechanism cannot work otherwise.
There is no drum here and no sealed cassette. PetSafe suggests emptying the bin weekly, which is a shorter interval than the 10 to 15 days the large drum boxes on this page claim. For one cat that is a Sunday job. For two, it is the reason to look at the higher-capacity machines.
No app, no weight sensor, no counter, no notifications. Whether that is a missing feature or a relief depends entirely on you — but it also means one less thing to fail, and no account to create before the box works.

The firmest and fastest-setting one you can find. A rake has to lift a clump intact; a litter that takes minutes to harden will be dragged through the bed instead. Fine-grained clumping clay generally does this best, and this is one of the few places where paying more per bag genuinely changes the result.
