The number that matters in an automatic box

Clumping speed. An automatic box begins its cycle a few minutes after the cat steps out, and it can only lift a clump that has already set. Clay litters vary enormously here; a litter quoted in seconds is one designed for the job.

Why does clumping speed matter?

Because the machine cycles a few minutes after the cat leaves. A litter that takes longer than that to set is dragged through the bed rather than lifted out, and the box gets blamed for what the litter did.

Is it really flushable?

FUKUMARU states so, and local rules vary — some water authorities advise against flushing any cat waste. Where there is any doubt, bag it: a blocked drain costs more than a year of litter.
