PETKIT publishes what most of this market leaves out — 48 cm (18.9 in) of internal diameter, 52 cm (20.5 in) of height, a 20 cm (7.9 in) entry, a 2 to 8 kg (4.4 to 17.6 lb) weight range, and an explicit exclusion of cats under six months. Those five numbers answer the question that actually decides a purchase: will my cat fit, and will the box know it is there?
Three of them, all from PETKIT’s own listing. No crystal litter — clay, tofu, bentonite and mixed clumping litters only. No carpet — the sensors are specified for a level hard floor, and PETKIT says carpet can cause malfunctions. And the liner is a consumable, replaced every 20 to 30 days to keep the drum leak-proof.
PETKIT gives roughly 15 days for a single cat before the waste bin needs emptying, which is the highest figure on this page and the reason the box suits people who travel. With two or three cats, divide accordingly — the bin is 7 liters whatever the drum holds.
The weight sensor is what makes the machine safe, not the app. It is also what produces the usage data PETKIT shows in the app: weight, times, duration. Useful to notice a change; not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for a vet.

PETKIT states it is not suitable for cats under six months, and gives a working range of 2 to 8 kg (4.4 to 17.6 lb). That is a manufacturer limit on a machine that moves, so it is not a suggestion — a kitten under the detection weight is a kitten the box does not know is inside. Keep a manual tray until the cat is comfortably over the threshold.
PETKIT specifies a level hard floor and says carpet can disturb the sensors and cause malfunctions. A drum that mis-senses is a drum that turns at the wrong moment, so this is one instruction worth following exactly rather than testing.
PETKIT specifies replacing the tri-proof liner every 20 to 30 days to keep the drum leak-proof. That is roughly 12 to 18 liners a year, and it is the recurring cost to price before buying — the drum itself needs nothing else.
