What you are getting

Two replacement heads — one hard, one soft — for $19.95. That is $9.98 a head, the highest on this shelf.

The same five bullets as the three-pack, and they fit better here

LuckyTail sells two packs with identical bullet text. On the three-pack, those bullets describe hard and soft and leave the third grade — “Regular” — unexplained. Here there are only two heads, and the bullets describe both of them.

The two-pack is the one whose page is complete. It is also the one that costs more per head: $9.98 against $8.00, because the third head is $4.04.

Two grades, and what they are for

Hard is the coarse head: “ideal for large dogs with thick nails”. Soft is the fine one: “perfect for removing any sharp edges and delivering a smooth finish”. That is the whole useful distinction in nail grinding — one head takes length off, the other takes the edge off.

No grit number backs either word, so the pair cannot be compared with any other maker’s coarse and fine.

The highest price per head here

  • nqnqvl, 20 heads, $14.88 — 74 cents
  • hiSpkNix, 10 heads, $9.98 — $1.00
  • LUCKY TAIL, 3 heads, $23.99 — $8.00
  • LUCKY TAIL, 2 heads, $19.95 — $9.98

Thirteen times the cheapest head on the shelf, for a surface all four call diamond.

What is not published

No head diameter and no reference number. The barcode 0860005936557 identifies it; nothing on the page says what grinder shaft it seats on, beyond the maker’s own.

The questions owners ask

Why pay more per head than for the three-pack?

The three-pack is $23.99 for three — $8.00 a head — and this is $19.95 for two, or $9.98. The third head is $4.04. Whether that is worth it depends on a grade the three-pack never describes: its title sells "Regular" and its bullets explain only hard and soft. This pack sells two grades and explains both.

Which head for which animal?

The maker is explicit for once. Hard is the coarse head, "ideal for large dogs with thick nails", and takes length off faster. Soft is the fine head, "perfect for removing any sharp edges and delivering a smooth finish" — the finishing pass, and the one that suits cats. That is the distinction the rest of this shelf leaves out.

How do they attach?

By pull and push: "simply pull out the old one and push in the new grinding head". No tool, no collet, no screw is mentioned. The maker recommends changing them every few months under constant use — the only replacement interval stated by any listing on this shelf.
