The cheapest genuinely available box here, open-topped, with the lowest stated noise figure of the ten and a 1.5 to 12.5 kg range that covers almost any cat.
The bottom line The best starting point in this family. Cheap enough to risk on a cat that may refuse the whole idea, open enough that most will not, and specified with the delay and the sensors that make the risk acceptable.
What it is
An open-topped XXL box with a 10-litre waste container, quoted at up to 14
days. Thereye states a working range of 1.5 to 12.5 kg, an adjustable cleaning
delay with six minutes recommended, and a noise figure under 20 dB.
Why it opens this family
Everything about an automatic litter box is a bet on the cat accepting it. This
one is the cheapest way to place that bet across five European markets, and it
is open-topped, which is the shape cats coming off a manual tray accept most
readily. If the bet loses, you are out the price of a good manual setup rather
than the price of a drum.
The safety layers
Three pairs of infrared sensors and four weight sensors, with what Thereye
calls triple anti-pinch protection: weight detection, motor overload
protection, and an infrared matrix. The cycle stops on movement and resumes
only once the cat has left. The adjustable delay is the part to set
deliberately — the six minutes Thereye recommends is more conservative than
the two minutes some boxes here fix in firmware.
Litter and upkeep
Clumping tofu, bentonite, mineral or mixed. Assembly is tool-free, and every
part that gets dirty — the waste container, the filter — lifts out. Bags, an
odour neutraliser and a brush come in the box, so nothing else is needed to
start.

What we like, and what we don't
Strengths
The lowest published noise figure on this page, by some margin
An unusually wide weight range: 1.5 to 12.5 kg on an open design
Adjustable cleaning delay, which most boxes at this price fix
Tool-free assembly, and every part including the bin and filter lifts out for washing
Compromises
No crystal litter, and no plant litters beyond tofu in the stated list
Not listed on Amazon US when we checked
An open box scatters more litter than a hooded one
Under 20 dB is a manufacturer figure with no method attached — treat it as a claim
It is the one on this page we would start with. It is the cheapest that is genuinely purchasable across five markets, the open shape is what a cat coming off a tray accepts most readily, and nothing about it is proprietary — the litter is whatever clumping bag you already buy and the bags are ordinary.
What is the recommended cleaning delay?
Thereye recommends six minutes, and the delay is adjustable in the app. A longer delay is the simplest safety margin there is: it covers the cat that leaves, thinks better of it, and steps straight back in.
Under 20 dB — is that believable?
It is Thereye’s own figure, and it is the lowest on this page. Manufacturer noise numbers in this category are measured in whatever way each brand chooses, so the honest reading is that this box is specified as quiet, not that it is measurably quieter than a machine rated at 32 dB.
App · ~35 dB · 9 L litter · all litters except crystal
A mid-priced drum box with an ozone-ion deodorising system and the Smart Life app. It holds up to 9 litres of litter, runs at about 35 dB, and takes everything except crystal.
Best for: A European household that wants a full-featured drum box at the lower end of the price range and already has other Smart Life devices.
An open-topped drum box for cats that refuse enclosed machines, with the widest stated weight range here — up to 15 kg — and 6 infrared plus 4 weight sensors watching the cycle.
Best for: A large cat, or a nervous one that will not enter an enclosed machine — and a household that can put the box somewhere the litter scatter does not matter.
The best-documented box on this page: PETKIT publishes the drum volume, the internal dimensions, the entry height, the cat weight range and the age limit. It takes any clumping litter except crystal.
Best for: A multi-cat household with adult cats between 2 and 8 kg, a hard floor, and no intention of changing litter type.
