Only for a specific reason — a sealed waste box in a small flat, or per-cat identification in a multi-cat house. Neither makes a machine clean better, and both cost roughly double.
Above about €300 you are buying one of two things.
A sealed waste system
Waste sifted into a closed box rather than an open bin. In a one-room flat that is the difference between a machine you notice and one you do not.
Per-cat identification
A camera with face recognition, which is the only mechanism in our catalog that reliably separates cats of similar build. In a one-cat house it is worthless; in a three-cat house it is the whole reason to buy.
What you do not get
Better cleaning. The rake and drum mechanisms at €180 sort litter as well as those at €600.
The honest test
If you cannot name which of those two features you are buying, the mid-range machine is the better purchase.
This does not replace your device’s manual. Blade temperatures, locking mechanisms and cleaning procedures differ from model to model, and the manufacturer’s instructions take precedence over anything written here. Unplug a device before dismantling it, check a hot blade or an air nozzle against your own hand before it goes anywhere near an animal, and keep a mechanism that closes or rotates under supervision until you know how it behaves.
