Colexy Small-animal scale review
The cheapest scale here: up to 15 kg (33.1 lb) with four weighing modes, an ABS body and a backlit display. It is the entry point for weighing a cat at home.
What we take from it Good enough for a monthly check, and no substitute for a scale that publishes its accuracy. At this price that is a fair trade.
What it is
A small digital pet scale: up to 15 kg (33.1 lb), four weighing modes, an ABS body and a
backlit LCD.
What it is for
Noticing. A cat’s weight changes slowly and invisibly under a coat, and the
difference between “he seems fine” and a number written down once a month is
substantial. This is the cheapest way to have the number.
What it does not tell you
Its own accuracy. Colexy publishes modes and capacity but no resolution
figure, so it cannot be compared against the ±2 g (0.1 oz) of the MINDPET-MED. For
monthly checks that is tolerable; for a growth chart it is not.
The carrier trick
Cats object to standing on strange flat objects. Put a box or the carrier on
the scale, tare it to zero, then put the cat in — the reading is the cat, and
nobody has to be persuaded of anything.

The questions owners ask
What is missing compared with the MINDPET-MED?
A published accuracy figure, mainly, and tray size. The MINDPET-MED states ±2 g (0.1 oz); this listing states none, which means it cannot be compared on the specification that matters most in a small-animal scale.
Is a cheap scale good enough?
To notice that a cat has lost a lot of weight, yes. To follow a kitten’s growth or a controlled diet, the finer instrument earns its price. Buy for the job you actually have.
How do I get a cat to stay on it?
Put the carrier or a familiar box on the scale, tare it, then put the cat in. Almost every cat that refuses a bare platform will sit in a box on one, and the tare function makes the arithmetic disappear.

Up to 100 kg (220.5 lb) · 80 × 60 cm (31.5 × 23.6 in) wooden platform · 3.1 cm (1.2 in) high · 3.4 kg (7.5 lb)
A large flat platform scale: 80 × 60 cm (31.5 × 23.6 in), 3.1 centimeters high, for dogs up to 100 kg (220.5 lb) and 80 cm (31.5 in) of back length. Low enough that a dog steps on rather than climbs.
Best for: Large dogs, breeders, and anyone tracking a weight-loss program a vet has set.
Up to 40 kg (88.2 lb) · 10 g (0.4 oz) steps · 56 × 33 cm (22 × 13 in) ABS platform
A mid-sized scale in the shape veterinary practices use: 56 × 33 cm (22 × 13 in) of ABS platform, up to 40 kg (88.2 lb) in 10-gram steps, with a large LCD.
Best for: Multi-animal households: one scale that handles cats and medium dogs without being a piece of furniture.
Max 30 kg (66.1 lb) · 2 g (0.1 oz) accuracy · 60 cm (23.6 in) tray · hold function
A precision scale for small animals: up to 30 kg (66.1 lb) with an accuracy of about 2 grams, a 60-centimeter tray and an automatic hold for animals that will not stand still.
Best for: Kittens, puppies, cats and small dogs — where a change of fifty grams is the thing you are trying to see.
