Pawsync PPF-R361S smart feeder review

A feeder with a scale inside: it weighs what is dispensed and what is eaten, plans up to ten meals a day, and keeps a desiccant in the hopper.

What we take from it The feeder to choose when the ration is measured. The scale is the reason; the app calculator is a convenience, not an authority.

What it is

An app-controlled dry-food feeder with a scale built into it: up to ten meals a day, up to ten portions each, a 3.6-liter hopper with a desiccant chamber, and a color-changing reminder on the body.

Weighing rather than counting

Every cheap feeder counts portions, and a portion is a volume. Kibble density varies between bags and even within one, so a counted ration drifts. A feeder that dispenses to a weight does not, and it also records what remained in the bowl — which is the number that tells you the animal ate.

The calculator, and where it stops

Pawsync’s app suggests a ration from life stage, weight and the calorie figure on the food. That is a reasonable starting point and it is not advice. An animal with a condition, a weight target or a prescription diet is fed on a vet’s numbers, and the machine’s role is to deliver them accurately.

Desiccant

A small thing that decides whether the machine still works in month six. Humidity gets into every hopper; a desiccant chamber slows it, and the rotor stays clear.

What we rate, and what we flag up

Strengths

  • Weighs rather than counts portions — the honest way to dispense a ration
  • Ten meals a day suits animals fed little and often on a vet’s instruction
  • Desiccant in the hopper, which is what keeps kibble from softening and jamming
  • Listed on six markets, under a European and an American reference

Compromises

  • The app’s feeding calculator is a manufacturer’s formula, not veterinary advice
  • Not listed on Amazon US at the time of checking
  • More machine — and more to fail — than a plain timed feeder

The questions owners ask

What does a built-in scale change?

Everything about accuracy. A portion counter dispenses a volume that varies with the food; a scale dispenses to a weight. If you are feeding a measured ration, that is the difference between following it and approximating it — and it also records what was left, which a counter cannot.

Should I trust the app’s feeding calculator?

Treat it as a starting suggestion from a manufacturer, not as advice. Rations depend on the animal, its condition, its activity and anything a vet has said — the machine knows a weight and a calorie figure from a bag. Where a diet matters medically, the number comes from the vet and the feeder just delivers it.

Why does the desiccant matter?

Because humid kibble softens, and softened kibble is what jams a rotor. Every hopper feeder fails this way eventually; a desiccant chamber is the cheapest defense, and one of the few genuine differences between feeders at this price.
