What it is

The original replacement pump for Catit PIXI fountains, with a built-in dry-run sensor.

Before you buy it

Clean the one you have. A furred impeller housing sounds exactly like a dying pump, and five minutes with a brush fixes most of them. This part is for the pump that is still wrong after a proper clean.

Why the sensor matters

Fountain pumps die from running dry, not from age. A sensor that stops the motor when the reservoir is low turns a forgotten refill into an inconvenience rather than a purchase.

Fitment

PIXI fountains only. The Flower range takes a different pump, listed separately on this page.

The questions owners ask

My fountain is noisy — do I need a new pump?

Almost certainly not. Nine times out of ten a noisy fountain is low on water or has a furred impeller. Top it up, then open the pump and clean the impeller housing. Buy the pump only when a clean, full fountain still sounds wrong.

What is dry-run protection worth?

The pump itself. A fountain pump that runs without water overheats and fails, and an empty reservoir is the most common cause. A sensor that cuts the motor is the difference between a refill you forgot and a part you have to buy.

Will a generic pump fit?

Generic pumps of the right voltage and flow exist, and fitting them in a PIXI is fiddly. Check the flow rate in liters per hour before ordering: too strong overshoots the bowl, too weak will not lift water to the top.
