What stays
A hole in a door, a wall or a pane. Making good means a new door panel, a new pane, or bricking and plastering.
In rented property
Ask first, and get it in writing. A cat flap fitted without permission is a deposit conversation at the end of a tenancy.
The lower-commitment option
A flap fitted into a removable window panel — a purpose-cut acrylic sheet in a sash or casement — which comes out when you leave.
This does not replace your device’s manual. Blade temperatures, locking mechanisms and cleaning procedures differ from model to model, and the manufacturer’s instructions take precedence over anything written here. Unplug a device before dismantling it, check a hot blade or an air nozzle against your own hand before it goes anywhere near an animal, and keep a mechanism that closes or rotates under supervision until you know how it behaves.
