What we take from it The only door on this shelf that decides who goes OUT as well as who comes in, per cat, for up to 32 of them. That is what keeps one cat indoors while another is free — and no amount of money buys it on the entry-only doors.
What you are getting
A microchip cat door that scans in both directions, storing up to 32 cats with individual exit permissions. Opening 4¾ × 5⅝ inches. Four AA batteries, up to a year. $209.89.
Dual scan is the one feature the rest of this shelf cannot match
Every other microchip door here reads on entry only: your cat comes back in, the neighbor’s does not, and any cat may leave.
This one reads on the way out too, and the permission is per cat. One cat stays in after an operation while the other comes and goes. A cat that must not go out at night is held while its housemate is not.
That is a different problem from keeping intruders out, and it is the reason this door exists.
The opening is the smallest on the shelf
4¾ × 5⅝ inches — 121 × 143 mm. The SureFlap Pet Door on this shelf is 6 11/16 × 7 inches, and the Cat Mate cut-out is 178 × 204 mm.
This is a cat flap, not a pet door. Its overall frame is 21 × 21 cm (8.3 × 8.3 in) with a cut-out of 16.6 cm (6.5 in), and it fits an installation depth of 3 to 60 mm (0.12 to 2.36 in), extendable with tunnel elements.
Compatibility, stated loosely
“Compatible with all common microchips.” That is less precise than the two SureFlap Pet Doors on this shelf, which name 9-digit Avid Secure, 10-digit FDXA and 15-digit FDXB individually. An RFID collar tag can be used instead, sold separately.
Glass, with an adapter
“Due to extra mounting adapter suitable also for glass doors (available separately).” That adapter is on this shelf’s accessory side at $74.03 for a pack of two, covering holes from 294 to 320 mm (11.6 to 12.6 in) — a cost worth adding before choosing glass.
What is not published
No battery life figure beyond “up to a year with normal use”, no weight for the door itself beyond the 1 kg shipping figure, and no noise claim beyond “low noise level”.

The questions owners ask
What does dual scan actually change?
It reads the chip on the way out as well as on the way in, so exit is a permission rather than a free pass. In a two-cat house that is the difference between keeping one indoors after surgery and shutting the flap for both. Every other door on this shelf is entry-only: the neighbor’s cat is kept out, and your own cats all leave whenever they like.
Will my cat fit?
The opening is 4¾ inches high by 5⅝ wide — the smallest on this shelf. A standard cat passes comfortably; a large or heavily built one may not. For comparison, the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door here opens 6 11/16 × 7 inches and states a limit of 6½-inch shoulders and a 20-inch waist.
Can it go in glass?
Yes, with an adapter that is not included. Sure Petcare sells a mounting adapter for glass panels at $74.03 for a pack of two, covering holes of 294 to 320 mm (11.6 to 12.6 in). The glass itself has to be cut by a glazier, which is a second cost again — the shelf guidance is to settle the mounting before choosing the door.

Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 100.
