Pawfit 3 review

A 4G tracker with an LED light on the collar, a built-in speaker you can talk through, and escape alerts when the animal leaves a safe zone.

What we take from it The tracker for night-time searches. Light and speaker are what set it apart; the subscription question is identical to everyone else’s.

What it is

A 4G GPS tracker for dogs and cats with multi-satellite positioning, an included SIM covering Europe and North America, safe-zone escape alerts, an LED light and a speaker.

Two features that matter in the dark

Every tracker gives you a position. Pawfit adds a light on the animal and a voice from the collar, and both are for the same ten minutes: the ones after you know roughly where the dog is and still cannot see it. Anyone who has searched a field at eleven at night understands why that is worth paying for.

Escape alerts

A notification when the animal leaves the zone you drew, rather than a map you have to think to open. The alert is what buys the ten minutes; the map is what you use afterwards.

The usual caveat

A subscription and a SIM, like every genuine tracker on this page. The comparison between trackers is never hardware against hardware — it is three years of one plan against three years of another, plus whatever the device does that the others do not.

Availability

Catalogued and unsold: the American Amazon shop lists the reference with nobody behind it.

Read from Keepa on the day this page was last revised; stock and price both move without notice.

What we rate, and what we flag up

Strengths

  • The LED is the feature nobody thinks of until dark — it turns a map position into a visible animal
  • Speaking through the collar is genuinely useful when calling a hidden dog
  • Safe-zone alerts rather than only on-demand tracking
  • Listed on all six of our markets

Compromises

  • Subscription required, like every tracker here
  • Coverage stated for Europe and North America — check before traveling elsewhere
  • Two extra functions mean two more things to drain the battery

The questions owners ask

Does the LED actually help?

In woodland at night, more than the map does. GPS puts you within a few meters; a light tells you which side of the hedge. It is the cheapest useful feature on any tracker and surprisingly few have it.

What is the speaker for?

Calling. A dog that has bolted responds to a familiar voice better than to a person crashing through undergrowth, and a speaker on the collar puts that voice where the dog is. It is not a training tool — it is a recall aid at the worst moment.

Which countries does it work in?

Pawfit states Europe and North America over 4G with the SIM included. If you travel further, verify coverage with Pawfit before relying on it: a tracker outside its network is a collar ornament.
