What we take from it The curfew flap for people who do not want an app. Fitting flexibility is its other real advantage.
What it is
A microchip flap for up to 25 cats, with an optional night mode that keeps the
cat inside overnight, and a fitting range covering wood, glass, PVC, uPVC and
metal doors.
Night mode without a hub
The SureFlap Connect achieves a curfew with an app, a hub and an account. This
one does it in the flap. There is less control — it follows light rather than a
time you set — and there is nothing to break, nothing to pair and no service to
be discontinued.
Fitting is the quiet advantage
Metal and uPVC doors are where flap installations go wrong: the panel is thin,
the frame is hollow, and a flap designed for a timber door does not sit
properly. PetSafe lists both here, which narrows the search considerably if
that is your door.
What it does not have
Any reporting at all. If you want to know when the cat came in, this is the
wrong flap and the Connect range is the right one.

What we rate, and what we flag up
Strengths
Night mode without an app, hub or account — it is built into the flap
Fits metal and uPVC doors, which several flaps here do not
Twenty-five cats programmed, well beyond any real need
No collar required at all
Compromises

Night mode is a light sensor rather than a clock — it follows the season, for better or worse

The questions owners ask
How is night mode different from the SureFlap curfew?
The SureFlap curfew is a schedule set in an app; this is built into the flap itself. That means no hub, no account and nothing to stop working — and also less control, because you are following daylight rather than a time you chose.
Will it fit a uPVC door?
PetSafe lists wood, glass, PVC, uPVC and metal. That is a wider range than most flaps here state, and it matters: a modern composite or uPVC door is exactly where a flap designed for timber becomes a problem.
Does my cat need a collar?
No. It reads the chip, which is the point of the whole category — no collar, nothing to lose, nothing to catch on a branch.
