Weenect XS for cats review

The smallest tracker here, with a multi-network SIM and a Superlive mode that returns a new position every second. A subscription is required, as everywhere in this family.

What we take from it The locator’s locator: small, fast to refresh, on a SIM that roams. Take Tractive instead if you want the health data.

What it is

A very small GPS tracker for cats with a multi-network SIM, live tracking with no distance limit, and a Superlive mode that returns a position every second.

Size is the specification for a cat

Weenect calls the XS the smallest model on the market. Whatever the exact ranking, format is what decides whether a cat wears a tracker at all — a device that swings under the chin gets rejected, and a rejected tracker tells you nothing. This is the one to look at first for a small cat.

The SIM

Multi-network, included, working on 4G LTE-M and NB-IoT as well as 2G. A tracker tied to one operator is a tracker with holes in its map; one that roams between them has fewer. In the countryside that is not a marketing point, it is the difference between a position and a spinning icon.

Superlive, used properly

A position every second is a search tool. It drains a small battery quickly, and it is meant to: you switch it on when the cat is already missing and you are walking the hedgerow. Day to day, the standard interval is what keeps the tracker alive for days.

What we rate, and what we flag up

Strengths

  • A position every second in Superlive: the difference between following a cat and guessing where it went
  • Multi-network SIM roams between operators rather than depending on one
  • Weenect calls it the smallest model on the market — the format is the argument
  • No distance limit on the link, which is what a SIM buys over a Bluetooth tag

Compromises

  • Subscription required, and Weenect leads with that rather than hiding it
  • A one-second refresh empties a small battery quickly — it is a search mode, not a setting
  • Not listed on Amazon US at the time of checking

The questions owners ask

What is Superlive actually for?

The last two hundred meters. A tracker that updates every two minutes tells you which street; one that updates every second lets you walk in on a cat under a hedge. It is a mode you switch on during a search, not one you leave running.

What does a multi-network SIM change?

It can use whichever operator has coverage where the animal is, rather than one contracted network. In rural areas and on borders that is a real difference — and it is exactly where a lost cat tends to be.

Cheaper than Tractive — what is missing?

The health monitoring, mainly. Weenect concentrates on finding the animal; Tractive adds heart rate, breathing and sleep. If you want a locator, the cheaper one is not worse at locating.

Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 100.

The figure is a floor, rounded by Amazon, and read through Keepa — it says what buyers picked, not what a maker claims.
