What it is

A five-pack of Catit’s Triple Action filters, compatible with the Flower fountain, the LED version and the stainless versions.

One filter, one family

Catit keeps the same filter across the Flower range, which is convenient if you have upgraded from the plastic one to the stainless one and still have both in the house.

Hair is the variable

The interval printed on the pack assumes an average household. A long-coated cat in moult loads a filter in two weeks, and a filter clogged with hair starves the pump — which is how fountains become noisy and then die. Look at the pad, not the calendar.

Generics

This is the one fountain in our reviews where third-party filters are usually a genuine equivalent. Buy one pack first and check the fit in the housing.

The questions owners ask

Do third-party filters work in a Flower fountain?

This is the one fountain in our reviews where generic filters are commonly dimensionally identical, because the shape has been copied for years. Test one pack before buying several — the failure mode is a filter that lets water round the edge rather than through it.

How does moulting change the interval?

Considerably. The filter catches hair, and in a moulting household it loads far faster than the calendar suggests. Look at it rather than at the date.

What is "triple action"?

Catit’s name for the layers in the pad. There is no standard behind the phrase; what is checkable is that it catches hair and debris before the impeller, which is what protects the pump.
