What we take from it The default first fountain, and a reasonable one. Buy the larger PIXI instead if you have two cats or a cat that has already refused a fountain once.
What it is
Catit’s long-running Flower Fountain: 2 liters, a stainless insert at the
drinking surface, multi-stage filtration, and a shape that has been copied
more than any other in this category.
Why it is still worth listing
Because it is cheap enough to be an experiment. A significant number of cats
ignore fountains entirely, and finding that out for the price of a good bag of
litter is better than finding it out at €70. If the cat takes to it, the same
money later buys a bigger one for the room it actually drinks in.
What the listing does not tell you
Almost everything beyond capacity, materials and “multi-stage filtration”.
There is no noise figure, no pump flow rate, no filter interval. That is
normal at this price and it is why the more expensive fountains on this page
are easier to compare with each other than with this one.
Cleaning is the real maintenance
Filters change the taste; dismantling and scrubbing changes the hygiene. Every
fountain builds a film on its plastic, and the parts most people never take
apart — the pump housing, the underside of the flower — are exactly where it
grows.

The questions owners ask
Is 2 liters enough?
For one cat, comfortably — a cat drinks well under 300 ml a day. For two cats or a small dog, you will be topping it up every couple of days, and a fountain that runs low is a pump that runs dry. The 2.5 and 3.8-liter models on this page exist for that reason.
Do I need Catit filters, or will generic ones fit?
Generic filters cut to this shape are widely sold and dimensionally identical. It is worth checking the fit on the first pack rather than assuming, but this is one of the few fountains here where you are not locked into one supplier.
How often should the whole thing be washed?
More often than the filter schedule suggests. Filters handle taste; what builds up on plastic is biofilm, and only dismantling and scrubbing removes it. Any fountain that has become slippery inside is overdue, whatever the filter looks like.

A first fountain, or a second one for another room — this is the model that made the category ordinary.

2.5 L · stainless insert · three flow modes · lit level indicator
A 2.5-liter fountain with a stainless drinking surface, three flow settings and a nose that lights red when the water is low. The pump hangs in the water rather than sitting under the bowl.
Best for: A cat that has refused a fountain before — three flow settings are three chances rather than one.
Cordless · 2.8 L · 5-stage filter · stainless tray
A cordless fountain: Miaura states up to 30 days of battery life, a 2.8-liter tank and a five-stage filter. It is the only fountain here with no cable to route.
Best for: A room with no convenient socket, or a cat that has chewed a fountain cable before.
The 2-liter ceramic Drinkwell, with free-falling streams rather than a single spout and a submerged pump. It is the middle of PetSafe’s ceramic range in both size and price.
Best for: A cat that drinks from taps: falling water is exactly what a running tap looks like at cat height.
