Running water, and the pump that keeps it quiet · review
Miaura BA-025-105 cordless review
A cordless fountain: Miaura states up to 30 days of battery life, a 2.8-liter tank and a five-stage filter. It is the only fountain here with no cable to route.
What we take from it The fountain for an awkward room. Good capacity and a proper stainless tray; the battery is the part that decides how long it lasts.
What it is
A cordless cat fountain with a 2.8-liter tank, a stainless drinking tray and a
rechargeable pack Miaura rates at up to 30 days per charge.
The cable problem it solves
Cats drink where they feel safe, and that is rarely next to a socket. A mains
fountain puts a cable across the room or the fountain in the wrong place; this
one does neither. For households with a kitten that chews, that alone is the
argument.
The battery problem it creates
Every rechargeable pack loses capacity. In three years this fountain will run
for fewer days per charge than it does today, and eventually the pack — not
the pump — is what ends its life. Mains fountains have no such clock.
What is checkable, and what is not
The 2.8-liter tank and the stainless tray are facts. “Five-stage filtration”
is a phrase: there is no standard for what a stage means here, and no
independent measurement behind it. Judge the filters on price and
availability, which are things you can verify.

Strengths
No cable: it can stand where the cat drinks rather than where the socket is
2.8 L, second only to the Multi-Pet in this group
Stainless drinking tray, easy to wash and odor-free
A month between charges makes it practical rather than a novelty
Compromises
A battery is a part that ages — in three years this is the fountain that needs replacing

The questions owners ask
Is a cordless fountain a good idea?
It solves a real problem — a cable across a floor is both a hazard and a limit on where the fountain can go — and it introduces another: a battery that will not hold charge for ever. If the placement problem is what has stopped you buying a fountain, this is the answer; if not, mains is one less thing to fail.
Does the battery really last 30 days?
That is Miaura’s figure and it will depend on flow setting and how often the pump runs. Treat it as an order of magnitude — weeks rather than days — which is what makes the format usable at all.
What is five-stage filtration?
A description rather than a standard. There is no agreed definition of a "stage" in pet fountains, and no independent test behind the number. What can be checked is whether replacement filters are cheap and available, and that is the question worth asking before buying any fountain.

2.5 L · stainless insert · three flow modes · lit level indicator
A 2.5-liter fountain with a stainless drinking surface, three flow settings and a nose that lights red when the water is low. The pump hangs in the water rather than sitting under the bowl.
Best for: A cat that has refused a fountain before — three flow settings are three chances rather than one.
The 2-liter ceramic Drinkwell, with free-falling streams rather than a single spout and a submerged pump. It is the middle of PetSafe’s ceramic range in both size and price.
Best for: A cat that drinks from taps: falling water is exactly what a running tap looks like at cat height.
