What it is

Two flexible rubber mounting sleeves for the Tractive CAT Mini, holding the tracker against a collar strap.

The failure nobody plans for

Trackers are not usually lost because they break. They are lost because the mount gives way — a stretched or split sleeve, a clip that has been on for two years of hedges and fences. A spare sleeve in a drawer is the cheapest insurance in this whole category.

Check the buckle afterwards

On a cat the collar must release under load, and the tracker adds weight to it. After fitting, pull the collar until the buckle opens. If it does not, the combination is wrong regardless of what either part promises.

The questions owners ask

How does a tracker get lost?

The mount fails, not the electronics. A rubber sleeve that has stretched or split lets the unit slide off in a hedge, and the first you know is a position that has not moved for two hours. Replacing the sleeve periodically costs a fraction of replacing the tracker.

Will it fit my dog tracker?

No. Tractive publishes different mounts for the cat and dog models — the CAT Mini sleeve fits the CAT Mini. The dog clips are listed separately, including on this page.

Does it affect the breakaway collar?

It should not: the sleeve holds the tracker to the strap, and the buckle still has to release under load. Check after fitting that the buckle opens with the weight of the unit on it — that test takes five seconds and it is the one that matters.
