Yes, with a flap the maker lists for it — PetSafe’s Petporte states wood, glass, PVC, uPVC and metal, which is a wider range than most models publish.
Modern doors are where flap installations go wrong.
Why uPVC is different
The panel is thin, the frame is often hollow, and a flap designed for solid timber does not sit properly. The result is a flap that flexes, drafts and eventually jams.
What to look for
A model that lists uPVC explicitly. One of the flaps we review states wood, glass, PVC, uPVC and metal, which narrows the search considerably if that is your door.
Composite and double-glazed panels
Treat these as a glazier’s job. Cutting a sealed unit yourself destroys it, and the hole size comes from the manufacturer’s template.
Renting
A flap in a door is permanent. In rented property, ask first — and consider a window panel that can be swapped back.
This does not replace your device’s manual. Blade temperatures, locking mechanisms and cleaning procedures differ from model to model, and the manufacturer’s instructions take precedence over anything written here. Unplug a device before dismantling it, check a hot blade or an air nozzle against your own hand before it goes anywhere near an animal, and keep a mechanism that closes or rotates under supervision until you know how it behaves.
