What it is

Three white 50 mm (1.97 in) tunnel extenders for SureFlap cat flaps — the standard, DualScan and Connect models.

The right way to buy them

With the flap. The commonest sequence in this category is: buy flap, cut hole, discover the tunnel is 70 mm (2.76 in) and the wall is 300, order extenders, wait. Adding 150 mm (5.91 in) to the basket at the outset costs the same and saves the week.

Fitting matters more than the part

An extender is a plastic collar. What decides whether the installation is any good is that the tunnel is square to the wall, sealed at the outer face and properly supported. Filler packed round a crooked tunnel is what makes a flap drafty and stiff.

Not for the large pet doors

SureFlap’s bigger doors take different extenders. Check the model rather than the brand.

The questions owners ask

Single or three-pack?

Measure first. A door needs none, a thin partition one, a cavity wall usually three or more. The three-pack is the cheaper unit price and the right default for any wall fitting.

Do they seal against drafts?

They are designed to interlock and seal with the flap’s own tunnel. What decides the result is the fitting: a tunnel that is square to the wall and properly sealed at the outer face keeps weather out; one packed with filler does not.

Will they fit a pet door as well as a cat flap?

SureFlap lists these for the cat flaps. The larger pet doors take their own extenders — check the model before ordering, because the two ranges are not interchangeable.
