Catit

Fountains designed around the cat rather than the kitchen

Catit made the fountain shape everyone else copied. Two are reviewed here, and so are the pumps and filters that keep them running.

What we found writing the reviews

Spares exist and are easy to find. A replacement PIXI pump is around a quarter of the price of a new fountain, and it is listed on all six markets. Several competitors sell no pump at all, which turns a €9 repair into a €60 purchase.

Two pumps, two fountains, similar names. The PIXI pump and the Flower pump are not interchangeable, and ordering the wrong one is the most common mistaken purchase in this corner of the catalog. Our reviews name the fitment on both.

The drinking surface is a real design argument. Wide, shallow and stainless, so a cat’s whiskers stay out of the sides of a bowl. It is the kind of detail that decides whether a fussy cat uses the fountain at all.

Single references across all six markets on everything we reviewed, including the spares — which is rarer than it sounds.

Every Catit product we have reviewed

  • Catit Flower Fountain

    2 L · stainless insert · multi-stage filtration

The fountain most people have seen: 2 liters, a stainless insert, multi-stage filtration, and a price that makes it the usual first attempt.

Best for: A first fountain, or a second one for another room — this is the model that made the category ordinary.

    6.9/10

    ≈ $40

  • Catit PIXI stainless steel

2.5 L · stainless insert · three flow modes · lit level indicator

A 2.5-liter fountain with a stainless drinking surface, three flow settings and a nose that lights red when the water is low. The pump hangs in the water rather than sitting under the bowl.

Best for: A cat that has refused a fountain before — three flow settings are three chances rather than one.
