The largest flap SureFlap makes with an app: chip reading, curfew, and an opening sized for big cats and small dogs. It is also the largest hole you will cut in a door here.
What we take from it The right door for a dog that comes and goes, and overkill for a cat. Budget the fitting alongside the price.
What it is
The large Connect pet door: microchip or RFID tag reading, Sure Petcare app,
timed curfew, and an opening sized for large cats and small dogs.
Why size changes the purchase
Every other door on this page fits, more or less, where a cat flap already is.
This one does not. Enlarging a hole in a wooden door is straightforward
carpentry; enlarging one in a double-glazed unit means a new pane. That work
is part of the cost, and it is the part people discover late.
What you get for the money
Everything SureFlap makes: selective access by chip, a curfew, app monitoring,
and a physical opening that suits an animal a standard flap does not. If you
only need one of those, there is a cheaper door on this page that provides it.

The questions owners ask
How small does a "small dog" have to be?
Measure the animal, not the breed: the width across the shoulders and the height at the chest, then compare with the opening SureFlap publishes. A dog that has to crouch and turn will use the door once and then wait to be let out.
Can I fit this where a cat flap was?
No. The opening is larger, so the hole has to be enlarged — in a door that is carpentry, in glass it is a new pane. Plan the fitting before buying, because this is the purchase where an afternoon becomes a weekend.
Is the security any different from a cat flap?
A bigger opening is a bigger opening, and that is worth thinking about on a ground-floor door. The curfew and the locking modes control the animal, not a person; if the door is on an exposed elevation, that consideration is yours to weigh.
