What you are getting

Two RFID collar tags, 1.1 inch across and 2.8 grams each, in waterproof epoxy, for SureFlap doors and SureFeed feeders. $10.99 — $5.50 a key, the cheapest on this shelf.

It publishes a serial number, and nothing else here does

The fitment line reads: compatible with the SureFlap Microchip Pet Door, Cat Door, DualScan Cat Door and SureFeed Microchip Pet Feeder — “serial numbers higher than 1152201 on the Cat Door”.

That is a threshold you can check on the unit already screwed into your door. Every other key on this shelf names products; this one names the version. It is the most useful fitment statement in the group.

And it writes down what it will not open

“NOT compatible with PetSafe products”, in the listing’s own capitals. The PetSafe key on this shelf is the other half of that sentence — $24.93, battery-powered, and for a different door entirely.

Two keys, two ecosystems, no overlap. Buying the wrong one leaves a tag the door will never read.

Why a tag rather than the chip in the neck

The maker is explicit: “for use with pets that do not have an implanted microchip, or microchip can not be scanned well”. That second case is the common one — a chip that has migrated or sits deep reads unreliably at a flap, and a collar tag puts the code where the antenna is.

It also claims a “better signal getted than small built-in microchip”, which follows from size: an epoxy disc of 1.1 inch carries a larger coil than a glass chip the size of a rice grain.

What is not published

No read range, no battery (there is none — the tag is passive), and no stated lifespan. Instructions are not in the box: “located in the SureFlap/SureFeed manual”.

The questions owners ask

Why use a collar tag when the cat already has a microchip?

Because the chip does not always read. The maker states the two cases: pets "that do not have an implanted microchip, or microchip can not be scanned well". A chip that has migrated from the shoulder or sits deep gives an unreliable read at the flap, and a cat that has to stand still twice stops using the door. A 1.1-inch epoxy disc on the collar puts a larger coil right where the antenna is.

What is the serial number about?

SureFlap changed the Cat Door at a point in production, and the tag works with units above serial 1152201 only. The number is on the unit. This is the single most checkable fitment line on this shelf — every other listing names products, which can be ambiguous across generations, where a serial threshold cannot.

Will it work on a PetSafe door?

No, and the listing says so in capitals: "NOT compatible with PetSafe products". PetSafe sells its own key on this shelf — a battery-powered RFID unit at $24.93 — and the two systems do not read each other. This is the check to make before ordering: the door decides the key, not the other way round.
